Information evening for private music teachers 7 September 2009

PRIVATE music teachers are invited to attend an information evening run by the Department of Education’s Music Service.

The gathering takes place on Thursday 17 September at 7pm at the Music Centre, Lord Street, Douglas. Admission is free. Maggie Richardson

All private teachers of students who are preparing for the performance modules of GCSE, AS and A2 Music exams are welcome to attend to find out about the new requirements effective from the summer 2010 cohort (teaching from September 2009). The requirements of both the AQA and OCR exam boards will be covered.

The gathering is also a chance to meet other private music teachers and teachers from the secondary schools and to view the Music Centre's resources.

Maggie Richardson, Head of Music Service, said:

‘We have many excellent private music teachers throughout the Island but they aren’t always kept up to date with what their students need to do to gain the best possible marks in their school music exams. Private teaching can be a little isolating at times. I hope the evening will be beneficial to schools’ music departments, all the teachers and ultimately students themselves.’

If you wish to attend, please call 01624 686555 to book your place.
