Parents of children not educated at Department of Education schools asked to notify arrangements. 29 September 2009

Parents of school-age children who are not registered with a Department of Education school are being asked to notify the Department of Education of the arrangements they have made for their child's education.

The Education (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 places a duty on parents to notify the Department in writing of the arrangements they have made for their child's education.

Parents of children who currently fall into this category are being asked to complete the form below and return it to the Department within six months. In the case of children who in future reach school age and are not educated at a Department school, or who are withdrawn from a Department school, notification must be received within three months.

The requirement relates to all school-age children who live in the Isle of Man and are educated at a non-Department school or educated at home or by a private tutor.

A public notice has been placed into local newspapers this week advertising the requirement and a copy is below.

Copies of the form can also be obtained from the Department of Education, 1st Floor, St George's Court, Upper Church Street, Douglas, IM1 2SG. All queries should be addressed to Mr John Gill, Head of Legal and Administrative Services, on 01624 685820 or
