Government Online Service is a Success 23 October 2009

Treasury Information Systems Division have announced that the Government Online Payments Service has now processed £30 million since its introduction in 2007, with a total of 20,000 payments.

The service provides a quick, easy to use and secure payment service for residents and Island businesses enabling customers to make payments at a time convenient to them, without the need to visit an office or post the payment to Government.

Initially Government Online Payments was launched to allow Treasury Income Tax Division and Treasury Customs & Excise Division to process payments from Credit or Debit Cards from customers. A further Online Payment Service was added to allow Credit Transfers which have proved popular.

As the name suggests, this is a Government service and also now includes facilities for Rate Payments, MEA Billing & Security Deposits, Customs & Excise General Payments and Fishing Licences for Reservoir and Open Water Payments. and as a consequence has enabled efficiencies and cost savings by reducing paperwork, administration time and payment costs with the bonus of delivering a receipt in real time.
