Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS) returns to Noble's Hospital 22 January 2010

The Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS), which provides emergency out-of-hours GP cover, will be relocating from the Central Community Health Centre, Westmoreland Road, Douglas, back to its usual location at Noble’s Hospital, next to A & E, with effect from 6pm on Monday, 25th January 2010.

The area made available when MEDS moved on a temporary basis to the Central Community Health Centre as part of Noble’s Hospital pandemic flu planning, is no longer required as a dedicated facility for A & E to receive patients displaying flu symptoms and this has enabled MEDS to return to the hospital.

Patients are reminded that MEDS is not a drop-in service and anyone needing to access MEDS should first telephone their GP surgery where their call will be automatically diverted or an answer-phone message that will give them the number of the out-of-hours service.

This service is for GP emergencies that cannot wait until the following day. In the event of a life-threatening situation, the emergency 999 number should always be called. This service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
