New state of the art CT Scanner for Noble’s Hospital, Braddan 19 March 2010

Two pieces of state of the art equipment, a Computer Tomography (CT) scanner and Angiography Set, have recently been installed in the Radiology Department at Noble’s Hospital, Braddan thanks to a generous donation from the estate of Mr and Mrs C J Martin.L- R, Mr Jelski, Trustee, Minister W. E. Teare, Barbara Scot

The new CT scanner has been fully operational since 25th January following specialist training for the CT radiographers. Patients are already benefiting from faster scanning times and the improved image quality is providing more detailed information for the doctors involved in diagnosing and treating them. Due to much improved technology, the new scanner also has the potential to perform examinations that the old scanner could not offer.

The Angiography set has been fully operational since 24th February, again following specialist training. Superior quality images are being delivered, patients are receiving lower radiation doses and patient access to the Angiography service has been improved because of the equipment’s increased reliability.

L- R, Diane Rainford, Radiology Manager, Barbara Scott. HosHon W. E. Teare, MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“This generous contribution of £1.4 million from the estate of Mr & Mrs Martin to fund this CT scanner and Angiography Set will undoubtedly enable us to continue to provide high quality care to patients, and to take advantage of the very latest technology to the benefit of all concerned. I would like to personally thank the Trustees, Mr Jelski and Mrs Crompton for the care and consideration which they have shown in dealing with a very onerous responsibility. I knew Mr & Mrs Martin personally and I am sure that they would be very pleased with this donation.”
