Employment and Skills Group to move to Nivison House 25 August 2010

The Department of Economic Development has announced that the Employment and Skills Group within the Department of Economic Development (DED) will relocate to Nivison House, Prospect Hill, Douglas, from early September. The Job Centre and the Disability Employment Service (DES) are already located in Nivison House and will be joined by Work Permits, Training Services and the Careers Service.

The moves are effective from the following dates:

  • Work Permits - Wednesday 1st September
  • Careers Service - Friday 3rd September
  • Training Services - Tuesday 7th September

Employment and Skills Group Manager Jane Jelski said: “The Employment and Skills Group has previously been spread across four sites so the team are looking forward to working together in Nivison House. We would like to reassure people that all telephone numbers relating to Work Permits, Careers Service and Training Services will remain the same following the move and that we have staggered the move to minimise any potential disruption to the public.”

Mrs Clare Christian MLC, Political Member with responsibility for Employment and Skills, said: “I am delighted to see the operations of the Group consolidated in this way. By utilising a single site we have effectively established a ‘one-stop-shop’ supplying the full range of services offered by the Group. This move represents a big step towards greater efficiency, while at the same time ensuring that the high levels of customer service provided by the Group are maintained.”
