Achieving cost savings through effective records management 29 November 2010

ISLAND business leaders are being offered an expert insight into how effective records management can generate cost savings, enhance customer service and provide a cutting edge in a competitive marketplace.

Top UK Information and Records Manager Matthew Stephenson will deliver a presentation at the Manx Museum Lecture Theatre on Friday, December 3, on what is an issue of emerging importance in the business community. Mr Stephenson is Head of Information Governance at the University of Salford and Chairman of the UK Information and Records Management Society.

His talk will focus on challenges and solutions in the field of records management, as well as the benefits of establishing communities in which to share best practice and professional knowledge. The presentation will be followed by an informal discussion forum. The event at the Manx Museum is being co-hosted by the Isle of Man Government’s ‘Transforming Government’ Programme and the Information and Records Management Society

Meic Pierce Owen, Transforming Government’s Information Manager, said:

‘We are delighted that Matthew will be here to share his professional expertise with an Island audience. I have heard him talk before and he certainly has an impressive depth of knowledge on this subject, so I would urge people to take advantage of this opportunity. Today’s business climate is one of increasing customer expectations and contracting resources. This is true whatever sector you work in. In such an environment, effective records management can give businesses a vital edge. It can improve business efficiency and deliver significant cost savings. This event is the first of a series that Government and the Information and Records Management Society will be co-hosting over the coming months. The objectives are to raise awareness of the practical benefits of records management and also to promote an active community among those working in this field in the Isle of Man.’

The information seminar is open to all and admission is free. Doors open from 2pm and the event will run from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. For more details contact Meic Pierce Owen on 463809 or email meic.pierceowen@cso.gov.im
