‘Let’s Get Physical!’ at the Manx Museum! 18 October 2011

Interactive games challengeYoung people on the Isle of Man are encouraged to get physical this half term holiday at the Manx Museum. To celebrate their current exhibition, ‘Our Sporting Life’, Manx National Heritage is running sport themed workshops at the Museum during half term week. Participants at the ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ workshops will be able to discover more about the Island’s current and historic sporting stars, and find out what it really takes to become a world class athlete.

This fun and interactive workshop will also encourage participants to test their own athletic ability and mental agility – with an opportunity to take part in a bike race challenge using the exhibition’s Watt Bikes; compete in a virtual sports competition; and complete a series of sport based challenges in the exhibition gallery. The ‘Let’s Get Physical’ workshops are aimed at young people aged 7 – 16, and run twice daily from Monday 24th October to Thursday 27th October, at 10:30am – 12 noon and 2pm – 3:30pm. Tickets are priced at £2.50 per person, and participants are encouraged to wear trainers and comfortable clothing.

To continue the healthy lifestyles theme there will also be a ‘Family Fun Yoga’ workshop at the Museum on Friday 28th October. Expert yoga instructor, Heidi Danaher, will show families how to stretch and breathe in order to relax both body and mind. The ‘Family Fun Yoga’ sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities, and young people are encouraged to join in with their parents or grandparents. All equipment will be provided and tickets are priced at £5 per adult and £2.50 per child aged 5 – 16 and student up to 18 years.
