Manx Museum opens this Sunday 13 July 2012

Manx National Heritage is pleased to announce that the Manx Museum will be open this Sunday 15 July and on Sunday 29 July to welcome the Marco Polo and the Quest for Adventure cruise ships. The Museum will also be open for Island residents and other visitors to the Island.

The Marco Polo will be carrying in the region of 790 visitors and will dock in Douglas early on Sunday morning. 200 of the visitors are booked on excursions to MNH sites around the Island and 300 more are expected to visit Douglas. The Manx Museum and Bay Room Restaurant will be open from 9am to 4pm to welcome any explorers that day. It’s also a great opportunity for locals who may otherwise be engaged on a Saturday to re-discover the galleries, browse brand new ranges in the shop or see the latest ‘Olympic Dreams’ display in ‘Our Sporting Life’ exhibition.

Edmund Southworth, Director of Manx National Heritage said;

‘We are delighted to open our doors to visitors on Sunday. We have had a growing number of cruises and coaches visiting our sites this year and we are always happy to open outside our usual hours on request. I thank the team at MNH for their flexibility to open at additional times and on this occasion at short notice.

We are aware there will be additional costs to opening the Museum however we are very pleased to support the Isle of Man’s proactive approach in welcoming visitors to our Island.’

The Manx Museum will also be open on Sunday 29 July at 9am to 4pm. Please note the Reading Room will remain closed on both Sundays.
