Curraghs Wildlife Park Junior Photography Competition 30 July 2012

Taking photographs is a great way to see all the animals at the Curraghs Wildlife Park in a new light. To get the perfect picture, you need to watch the animals closer than you normally would. When you get that perfect picture though, what should you do? How about enter it into the very first Junior Photography Competition at the Curraghs Wildlife Park!

The theme for the competition is ‘Animals in the Curraghs Wildlife Park’.

Prizes

The winner of the competition will win:

  • A family season ticket to the Curraghs Wildlife Park in 2013
  • £40 photography voucher
  • Your picture printed to size A1 framed and take pride of place in the Lakeside Café

Two runners up will receive:

  • 14 day family pass
  • £ 20 photography voucher

Every entrant will receive a certificate and their picture will be posted to the Park’s Facebook page and website.

How to enter

Email photos to paul.watson@gov.im and make the subject 2012 Photo Competition.

If you are using film, post print to: 2012 Photo Competition, Curraghs Wildlife Park, Ballaugh, IM7 5EA.

Include your: Name, email address, contact telephone number, age, school and picture title.

Closing date: 31 August 2012

Judging criteria

To decide the winning entries, the judges will be looking at 3 areas:

  • Theme – does the photo fit the theme of animals in the Curraghs Wildlife Park?
  • Composition – what is the point of interest? Does it stand out against the background?
  • Creativity – what makes the photo different from the other entries?

Rules

  1. Entrants must be under 16 as of 31 September 2012
  2. Only one submission per entrant will be judged, so please only submit one photo – post as many as you like to Facebook though
  3. Be safe – many of the animals in the Park are free to roam around the enclosures. Be careful when approaching any of the animals. Don’t corner them, chase them, or feed them.
  4. By submitting a photograph to the competition, you agree to allow us to use your picture for promotional purposes such as brochures and website, photographic credit given to you.
  5. Most importantly, have fun, enjoy the Park and take great pictures!
