Railway Services 17th January 14 January 2013

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has confirmed that the Manx Electric Railway (MER) and Isle of Man Steam Railway will operate when bus drivers recommence strike action on Thursday 17 January.

Nick Black, DCCL Chief Executive Officer said: ‘The railways were a popular and efficient alternative mode of transport during the last strike and we are happy to be able to run them again this time.’
The Steam Railway will commence at 12:50pm and the MER timetable begins at 1.10pm. The full timetables are below. The Department will confirm details this week for bus services that will run during the strike period.
Mr Black said: ‘School services are the priority. Morning school bus services will run to the normal timetable and we are working closely with the Department of Education and Children to ensure that scheduling concentrates on getting students to their exams on time as well as covering the homeward journeys.’
