The Minister for Transport wishes to thank all those people who responded to the recent request for views and suggestions on the Department's policies and procedures on parking throughout the Island.

A more detailed consultation exercise will take place shortly, which will take into account the views received, as well as the information gathered from parking surveys carried out during the summer.

It is intended that, following this exercise, the Department will come forward with a comprehensive policy covering the following issues:

  • Enforcement
  • Extensions of Disc Zone Areas and new zones
  • Parking Permits
  • Eligible Vehicles
  • Length of Vehicle Stay
  • Charges
  • Appeal processes
On completion of this work, the Department of Transport will make its findings and its new policy known to the public.
