Sir Ronnie Flanagan Visits Island. 15 January 2004

Sir Ronnie Flanagan, Her Majesties Inspector of Constabulary, visited the Island on Monday 12th of January 2004.

During the visit useful discussions took place with Sir Ronnie meeting the Minister and representatives of the Department to discuss the 2004 inspection of the Isle of Man Constabulary, by HMIC, and various other important matters. In addition Sir Ronnie met with Mr Culverhouse, the Chief Constable, to discuss separate Force issues.

The Minister for Home Affairs, Phil Braidwood, MHK, commented,

"It is important that with the serious issues facing the Constabulary that the Department and the Force are receiving the most appropriate professional advice available and I am delighted that Sir Ronnie has agreed to take a very active role supporting the Isle of Man at this time.

"His advice and assistance is already proving invaluable in ensuring that we are acting in the most appropriate and timely manner in relation to dealing with the various investigations and complaints and I look forward to our continued dialogue on these matters.

Further visits by Sir Ronnie will be planned for the future.
