Larger Car Park for Braddan School 18 August 2003

The Department of Transport intends to resolve the parking problems at Braddan School by assisting in the extension of the School Car Park.

A planning application will shortly be submitted for works to increase the capacity of the Car Park by 20 spaces.

Included in the proposals is the layby next to the School which will be widened to accommodate the School Bus, whilst still providing visibility from the Car Park exit.

The Minister for Transport, Hon J P Shimmin, MHK is committed to finding a way forward on Braddan School Road to protect the safety of school children and dealing with the increased flows of traffic to the New Nobles Hospital.

It will still be necessary to reintroduce the parking restrictions on Braddan School Road from the 1st September 2003 to prevent parked vehicles obstructing the passage of emergency ambulances.

Further details of the parking proposals, including the extended car park, will be advised to the parents of children at Braddan School by the Head Teacher.
