New Head for Ashley Hill 24 January 2005

Mrs Linda Smith has been appointed Head teacher at Ashley Hill Primary School in Onchan, with effect from Monday 21st February 2005.

Mrs Smith's previous post was as Head teacher at Broken Cross Community School in Macclesfield, Cheshire - a primary school which also includes a Nursery and an EBD (Educational Behavioural Difficulties) Unit.

Prior to this Linda has worked in a number of schools in both inner city areas and more suburban locations, and her experience covers nursery education, the whole primary age range plus a wide range of Special Needs. Her full-time teaching career started in 1973 at Sidcup Hill in the London Borough of Bexley.

It is Mrs Smith's desire that the school play an active role in the local community and she aims to build on the many positive features already on offer at Ashley Hill.

Mrs Smith will replace Peter Orrell who was previously seconded to Cronk y Berry Primary School, where he has since been appointed Head teacher.

Mr Keith Morris who has been Acting Head at Ashley Hill will resume his role as Deputy Head teacher.
