The Department has accepted this recommendation and the award of the contract will now be subject to various consents including Treasury concurrence and Tynwald approval to the project in June 2005.

The Department was very pleased with the level of quality and competitiveness demonstrated by all tendering contractors and looks forward to works commencing on site in June of this year, subject of course to the approvals previously stated.

The Minister commented:

"The decision has been taken on the preferred contractors for the construction of the new prison at Jurby. This appointment and the progression of the scheme has of course to receive the required approvals from both Treasury and Tynwald but this is another important milestone for the project."
