TT Festival reaches new heights 5 October 2005

The global appeal of the world’s most famous motorcycling festival, the Isle of Man TT, was further demonstrated on the other side of the world recently.

QUANTAS, Australia’s national airline, run a series of in-flight programmes called ‘Business Sport’ and one of the films featured the 2005 festival together with footage about the Island generally.

Rushen MHK, Quintin Gill was travelling on a flight between Cairns and Brisbane when the film was shown. Mr Gill said: ‘It was a really positive advertisement for the Isle of Man. It cleverly compared the tranquil beauty of the Island with the noise and excitement of the road racing and TT festival. The film lasted for about a quarter of an hour and featured DTL Minister, David Cretney MHK, Neil Hanson, the Clerk of the Course and Peter Duke of Duke Marketing. The race sequences were very well covered and the Island was portrayed in a positive light. The centenary celebrations in 2007 were highlighted and the response and level of interest I saw from many of the passengers was very encouraging.’

The Isle of Man is set for another cracking TT festival in 2006. As well as racing there will be a variety of supporting events, including trials, rallies and beach racing.
