Friends of Manx National Heritage Corporate Evening 24 July 2007

Sue Brew from Cains Advocates in the new Viking GalleryCorporate members of Friends of Manx National Heritage [FMNH] were entertained to an exclusive private viewing of the new Viking and Medieval Galleries and recently opened TT exhibition at the Manx Museum on Wednesday 18th July.

Many objects never previously on public display are shown in the new Viking and Medieval Galleries. Of particular significance is the Ogham-inscribed stone, unearthed from the keeill site at Mount Murray and featured on Channel Four’s Time Team programme in January. Also playing a starring role in the new Medieval Gallery are the Chronicles of the Kings of Mann and the Isles which are the Isle of Man’s most significant medieval manuscript - on loan from the British Library.

Volunteers from FMNH provided the refreshments and helped MNH staff to run the evening.

Nicola Pemberton, Development and Admin Officer for the FMNH said:

“We were thrilled to be able to entertain our Corporate Members in the new and exciting Galleries. We greatly value the contribution that corporate members make to the work of FMNH and MNH”.

Mike Fayle, Chairman of the Friends added:

Allison Fox of MNH, with Mel Jones & Chris Hogben from Cains“The corporate members add a new dimension to our already substantial membership, involving many young business professionals. It is very encouraging to see such strong support from them and I hope we have helped showcase to this new audience how they are helping MNH to be the great success it is.”

The Corporate evening is one of the exclusive benefits of Corporate Membership of FMNH. Other benefits include free access to staff to all Story of Mann sites and for the Company, special access to The Story of Mann sites for corporate entertaining which include some of the most atmospheric environments available – such as the Manx Museum, Castle Rushen, the House of Manannan and the Old House of Keys. Other benefits could include complimentary use of one of the many conference facilities, membership marketing support and a framed canvas reproduction of a painting in the National collection.
