Sulby Claddagh Water Supply 2 June 2009

The water supply to the Sulby Claddagh toilet facilities was restored last week after problems had been encountered over the Bank Holiday weekend. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry worked closely with local landowners to find a solution quickly and in time for the 2009 TT.

Minister for the Department, Phil Gawne said, ‘we would like to thank the many people who have helped resolve this issue, in particular the Ballamanagh Estate and the IOM Water Authority. The Claddagh has been used by visitors to the TT for many years and we are pleased that once again these facilities are available to them.’

The Sulby Claddagh has been the subject of debate in recent months over its future management. Following public consultation, the Department is currently finalising its proposals and further information will be made available in the near future regarding the wider issues on the use and proposed future management of the Claddagh.
