2010 TT Homestay Scheme Launched This Week 16 December 2009

Homestay registration for the TT 2010 festival period has been launched this week by the Department of Tourism and Leisure.

The Department is inviting anyone interested in the Homestay scheme to register as soon as possible. Registration forms have already been sent out to providers who have previously registered offering them the opportunity to sign up for the scheme again next year. Last year alone the Department registered over 700 properties.

Homestay can be offered during TT for any number of nights between May 29th and June 12th 2010. Householders considering offering Homestay accommodation are advised to register their property with the Department as soon as possible to help meet the ever-increasing demand and enable visitors to secure early bookings.

The registration fees remain at £8. Properties taking paying guests over these periods must register with the Department.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Hon Martyn Quayle MHK commented:

‘We are grateful to all those involved in the Homestay scheme as the feedback we receive is that it is one of the best and most effective ways for TT fans to experience the Island lifestyle and Manx way of life. Without Homestay we couldn’t accommodate all those who wish to visit for the TT Races and we know that a home from home feel ensures visitors are able to fully relax and enjoy their holiday.

‘We know from previous years that visitors have a memorable, enjoyable stay with their host families and often make such good friends that they return year after year.

‘The Department has already had numerous calls regarding accommodation for TT 2010 so demand for accommodation is evident. ‘
