TT3D film is box office smash hit at Broadway Cinema 17 June 2011

The sell out success of the 3D TT film continues.

People have flocked to the Villa Marina’s Broadway Cinema since its run commenced on April 22. The film has been screened at least once a day since then in response to customer demand, with three screenings every day during the TT festival.

To date, a total of 12,569 tickets have been sold for TT3D: Closer To The Edge, with nearly 5,000 of those snapped up during TT fortnight

. The film is currently showing at 2.30pm and 7.30pm daily until Sunday (19 June) then every evening from 20 to 23 June, plus the regular Wednesday matinee at 2.30pm.

Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said:

TT3D: Closer to the Edge is one of the most successful films to be shown at the Broadway Cinema, beating The King’s Speech in terms of audience numbers. There have been 64 sell-out screenings and no apparent slowdown in sales since its run started two months ago. I am thrilled because it is a tremendous documentary that captures the excitement and uniqueness of the TT.’

A decision on whether its run continues beyond next Thursday will be made early next week.

Tickets for the TT3D: Closer to the Edge cost £8 for adults and £6 for under 16s and can be booked at the Welcome Centre in Douglas Sea Terminal or on the ticket hotline (01624) 600555. Please note the film has been given a 15 certificate because it contains strong language. It runs about one hour 43 minutes.
