Rider Killed on Lap of Honour 3 June 2003

The organisers of the Isle of Man TT Races, the Auto-Cycle Union, regret to announce that a rider was fatally injured during yesterday's Lap of Honour.

Forty-six-year-old motorcycle mechanic PETER JARMANN, from Uzwil, Switzerland, crashed near Parkfield Crossroads, half-a-mile around the 37-and-three-quarter mile Mountain Course. He was riding a 1964 TSS Bultaco, on which he had competed successfully in last week's Pre-TT Classic races on the Billown Circuit near Castletown.

Mr Jarmann, who was a single man, had been competing in the TT for many years and earlier in the day had finished ninth in the Lightweight 400cc race on a Kawasaki. He was due to ride in three more events this week.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances and the Coroner of Inquests has been informed. Sympathy is extended to Mr Jarmann's family and friends.
