TT Lap of Honour 19 February 2004

The TT Organisers have announced plans for the annual TT Lap of Honour as part of an enhanced nostalgia weekend.

Under the terms of the Licence Agreement recently signed with the ACU, responsibility for the organisation is now vested firmly in the Isle of Man and the TT Co-ordinating Committee has appointed a three man sub-committee to progress the nostalgia weekend. The sub-committee is chaired by the Minister for Tourism and Leisure, the Hon. David Cretney, MHK (who is also Chairman of the main TT Co-ordinating Committee) and he is joined by former Clerk of the Course, Jack Wood and Manx Motor Cycle Club Director, Des Evans. They will be assisted by Malcolm Wheeler who made a major contribution to the 2003 event.

The major elements of the nostalgia weekend will be:

  • Wednesday 9th June
    TTRA Annual General Meeting (1900 hours, Masonic Hall, Douglas)

  • Thursday 10th June
    TT Lap of Honour Signing-on and Scrutineering.
    Evening Free.

  • Friday 11th June
    Senior TT Race (1245 hours).
    TT Lap of Honour and Classic Parade (1515 hours)
    Evening Medal Presentation at the recently refurbished 15 million Villa Marina (1930 for 2000 hours)
    (Additional guest tickets available to purchase)

  • Saturday 12th June
    Steam Packet National Road Races
    Classic Parade to form part of this event on the Southern 100 course at
    Castletown (time t.b.c.)
    (Entries please to S100 Organisers)
    Evening Free.

  • Sunday 13th June
    Concours d'Elegance at the TT Grandstand Pits area - Prize for the best machine (1300 to 1600 hours)

The Minister explained:

"We are looking to build on the Lap of Honour by linking it with the blue riband Senior TT and building around it a weekend to savour for classic enthusiasts."
