TT 2004 Entertainment 12 May 2004

Tourism Minister David Cretney announced today that tickets are now on sale for the Villa Marina and Gaiety shows over the TT festival period. In line with the policy of the last few years the music will be balanced to suit both a young and a more mature audience over the main weekend.

Top UK pop group Liberty X and 60s band The Hollies are to perform at the Villa Marina Royal Hall as part of a bonanza of entertainment for the TT 2004 festival. Liberty X are supported by the UK's Eurovision contender James Fox plus Katie Lewis and Ika on Friday 4th June. The Hollies will sing many of their hits including He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, Carrie-Anne, and Just One Look in a two-hour music extravaganza on Saturday 5th June. Tickets for The Hollies are £20 each, and tickets for Liberty X cost £18.50.

Mr Cretney said:

"We are pleased to have secured both of these acts for this year's TT festivities. They add to a programme of events across the Villa Marina and Gaiety Complex which, I feel sure, offers something for everyone."

The list of events includes comedy with Roy 'Chubby' Brown at the Gaiety Theatre for two nights on the 7th and 8th June - not a show for the easily offended.

The TT winners receive their awards and presentations on the 7th and 9th June in the Villa Marina Royal Hall starting at 7.30pm.

The Gaiety Theatre is the venue for 'One Night of Queen' on the 10th June with 'Stars in Their Eyes' winner Gary Mullen - an event that sold out last year.

Talon - Best of the Eagles play in the Villa Marina, Royal Hall on Tuesday 8th June with a spectacular tribute to rock giants The Eagles. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Another highlight for live music fans is Rumours of Fleetwood Mac with a celebration of blues and rock classics, which made Fleetwood Mac into music icons, on Thursday 10th June, Villa Marina Royal Hall.

As part of this year's 'Nostalgia Weekend', featuring former TT and MGP riders on both the TT and Southern 100 courses, a presentation of awards will take place at the Villa Marina Royal Hall on Friday 11th June. From 9pm on the night a limited number of tickets priced at £5 - on a first come first served basis - will be available at the Villa Marina for TT fans to come and meet their TT heroes.

A TT Chat Show and auction hosted by Richard Milky Quayle and Chris Kinley will be held on Thursday 3rd June at 7.30pm. Tickets for this event are available around Douglas in the Tourist Information Centre, Sea Terminal, Moochers and Supercards in Strand Street and at Road and Track, plus at Paul Dedman Motorcycles in Ramsey.

TT favourites, the six piece Celtic rock band Quill, featuring violin, mandolin and vocal harmony will play in the Villa Marina Promenade Suite each night 4th - 10th June. Tickets on the door.

Steve Dawson, National Entertainment Manager, said:

"We look forward to hosting an exciting line-up of artists and welcoming both residents and visitors alike."

Tourism Minister David Cretney concluded:

"This line-up of entertainment has more live bands than in all the time I have been Minister of Fun, and once again with all the other things going on all around the Island will make TT 2004 a year to remember!"

For Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre tickets call the box office on 694555 or see for details, except Quill tickets which can be obtained on the door, and TT chat show tickets, available as detailed above.
