TT Sidecar B 7 June 2006

Local residents Nick Crowe and Darren Hope clinched their third Isle of Man TT victory, and their second in three days, when they led from start to finish to win this afternoon's Hilton Hotel and Casino Sidecar 'B' Race thus completing the double.

Steve Norbury and Scott Parnell, who were second on Monday, were again runners-up, 36 seconds behind the flying Manxmen. Roy Hanks and Dave Wells were third, 57 seconds further back.

Crowe and Hope had wasted no time in stamping their authority on the race and an opening lap of 111.901 miles an hour gave them an advantage of 16 seconds over Monday’s runners-up, Steve Norbury and Scott Parnell. In third place were Gary Bryan and Colin Hardman.

The leaders continued on their untroubled way throughout lap two and by the Grandstand had extended their lead to 26 seconds over Norbury and Parnell. However, the leaderboard was to change when Bryan and Hardman - who had occupied second place in the early stages – retired at the pits. This brought Hanks and Wells into a podium position.

Klaus Klaffenbock's disappointing week continued. On Monday he and Christian Parzer were forced to retire at the end of the first lap in the 'A' Race when occupying third position and this time they only made it as far as Ballig on lap one before having to retire. John Potts and Stephen Thomas fared even worse and got no further than the end of the Grandstand area – around 200 yards – before their race was over.

Tony Elmer and Darren Marshall crashed at Creg-ny-Baa, after which Marshall was taken to hospital by helicopter. He was thought to be suffering from minor fractures.

Result: 1. Nick Crowe and Darren Hope, Honda, 1 00 55.64 (111.467); 2. Steve Norbury and Scott Parnell, Shelbourne Yamaha, 1 01 31.78 (110.376); 3. Roy Hanks and Dave Wells, DMR Yamaha.
