The sea has always played a big part in the history of the Isle of Man.
Now as part of the Sea Britain national maritime festival the Isle of Man will
host a variety of special events to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the
Battle of Trafalgar and the 175th Anniversary of the Steam Packet Company.
The sea started out as the life blood of the island. From fishing boats
to Immigration ships like the Star of India. The Isle of Man has seen it all.
The founder of the Royal National Lifeboat Insitution lived on the island
and was inspired by the the spirit of the Manx people and their relationship
with the harsh sea.
Share in the history with the many events around the island. There is
something for everyone from Tin Bath Races and High Speed Power Boat Races
to calm around the island sailings and public lectures.
