Top Island B&B get a particularly pleasant mention 26 January 2006

Aaron House, a luxury Victorian style B&B on the Isle of Man is mentioned in the Great Britain and Ireland Michelin Guide 2006 in the ‘Particularly Pleasant Hotels’ section on page 54.

Aaron House B&B in Port St MaryThis AA 5 diamond rated, magnificent guest house on the promenade in Port St Mary is run by Hayley Kiernan and her mother Kath Berrie, and has also been presented with a gold award for the past 2 years by the Department of Tourism and Leisure for the high standard of quality and service it offers.

Although every detail in the house is from the Victorian era, including the kitchen, complete with antique cooking utensils, the accommodation offers a high standard of hospitality and modern comforts. Each room is decorated in a different colour scheme with patchwork eiderdowns, iron bedsteads and painted wooden floors. The house is decorated with colours and wallpaper true to the Victorian era, including the bathrooms.

    Tourism Minister David Cretney said:

‘I would like to congratulate Hayley and Kath for achieving a mention in this widely acknowledged and popular guide. As a Department we are doing everything we can to drive up quality standards, particularly at this time through our Manx Welcome courses and Tourism Awards 2006. The Island must continue to raise standards and facilities in line with the expectations of our visitors by providing high quality facilities and standards of service and accommodation.’

Other Isle of Man hotels mentioned in the 2006 Michelin Guide are The Sefton, The Regency, Mount Murray, Admiral House, The Empress, Penta, The Lodge in Port Soderick, Rowany Cottier and The River House.
