ITV Border - Illiam Dhone documentary

A documentary about Illiam Dhone, Martyr or Traitor, will be shown this Thursday 9 February, at 7.30 pm. It is the last episode of ITV Border’s True Crimes series, filmed on the Island last year and presented by Nick Martin.

Dramatic reconstructions were shot at Castle Rushen, Hango Hill and around the coast, with local actors Robert Smith as William Christian, Joanne Richardson as the Countess of Derby, Paul Anthony Dunne as the seventh Earl of Derby and Simon Buttimore as a Manxman. Also featuring in the programme are Manx historical experts Mark Kermode, Charles Guard, Dr Rosalie Stott, Roger Simms, Rushen MHK Phil Gawne and Erik Wilkinson.

    BBC1 - Seven Wonders of the North-West

Seven Man-made Wonders of the North-West, made for the BBC by Multi Media Arts (MMA) Productions, and assisted by Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure/Manx National Heritage, will be transmitted on BBC1 North-West 18:15, Sunday 12 February.

The programme features the following wonders of the region, all nominated by people in the BBC North-West region:

    Laxey Wheel,

Isle of Man Furness Abbey, Cumbria

    Manchester Ship Canal

    Blackpool Tower

    St. George’s Hall, Liverpool

    Anderton Boat Lift, Cheshire

    Chester Roman Amphitheatre

The programme will then probably go nationwide as part of a series featuring all the regions, possibly to transmit in May. The programme is half an hour long, and presented by Simon O’Brien. It’s not a countdown show, with one winning wonder, instead all the wonders are treated equally.
