THE Department of Education has a new media and events co-ordinator. 7 November 2006

Jo Overty took up the post today (Monday), succeeding Maureen Callow.

Jo, 39, of Castletown, was formerly deputy editor and news editor at Isle of Man Newspapers and has worked at the newspapers since she moved to the Island in 1988.

She will be the first point of contact for those wishing to ring the department with media inquiries and will also organise events such as the department’s annual careers convention, teachers’ receptions and school openings.

Jo will also serve as secretary to the Board of Education.
