DHSS announce new Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Chief Executive 28 December 2007

The Department of Health and Social Security are pleased to confirm that Lesley Keenan has been appointed to the newly-created post of Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Chief Executive for the Department.

Hon W E Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“This appointment reflects my issue to deliver a high quality service to our patients and clients in a cost effective manner. I am sure that Lesley will enable us to move forward at a much quicker pace than previously envisaged and I wish her well in her new role.”

David Killip, Chief Executive for the Department of Health and Social Security said,

“Lesley has performed to a very high standard in her role as HRM Director and I have no doubt that she will have a considerable and immediate impact on the challenging agenda for the Chief Operating Officer role. Among many responsibilities, Lesley will take day-to-day accountability for driving and co-ordinating the performance of our operational services outcomes, with particular focus on corporate performance and value for money. I look forward to continuing our cordial working relationship.”

Lesley Keenan said

“I am delighted to have been appointed as Chief Operating Officer within DHSS and I look forward to the challenges that this new role will bring.”

Mrs Keenan, who is the Chair of the Isle of Man branch of the Chartered Institute for Personnel Development, has been the Department's Director of Human Resources Management since early in 2003 and takes up her new post on 1st January 2008.
