Government Consults on Review of Gambling Duties 17 April 2008

The Treasury has today published a consultation document on a Gambling Duties Bill.

The purpose of the Bill would be to update and simplify the law concerned with the administration of gambling duties, providing assurance as to the compliance of licensed operators, combating unlicensed and unlawful gambling and associated matters.

The Bill would repeal and replace

  • the Betting Act 1970 and
  • the Pool Betting (Isle of Man) Acts 1961-70

A copy of the consultation document is attached or can be obtained from the Customs and Excise Division.

Responses should be submitted to Ray Todd at Customs and Excise Division, PO Box 6, Custom House, North Quay, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM99 1AG by 20 June 2008.
