We want to work with all parts of the Industry, such as the accommodation providers, restaurants, the carriers, heritage sites, retailers and such like. We recognise that the Department of Tourism and Leisure is integral to the quality of life on the Isle of Man and a major contributor to the economic development of our Island.’

The Minister went on to say:

‘The Department is continually looking at ways of developing the industry and trying a number of initiatives to encourage an increase in visitor numbers and visitor spend. Whilst it is clear that there are difficult times ahead with the current global financial climate, I can assure you that I will do all I can to assist the Industry in promoting and marketing the Island to visitors and we are working with you, the private sector and other Government Departments to achieve that.’
