School musical set for lift off 5 November 2009

There could be unusual activity in the night skies of Douglas as Return to the Forbidden Planet blasts off at Ballakermeen Studio Theatre.

Director Chris Maybury described the show as ‘Shakespeare’s lost rock and roll masterpiece’.BHS play

He said: 'Return to the Forbidden Planet pushes three genres, (Shakespearean comedy, rock and roll music and science fiction) up against each other, lights the blue touch paper and stands back to watch the whole conglomeration explode into a phantasmogorical display of sheer exuberance.'

Which all adds up to a night of fun and rock and roll in the company of a young and talented cast.

Chris added: 'You will watch in awe as Captain Tempest and his crew battle against Prospero and the monster of the ID in a cleverly crafted take on The Tempest, with stops at other Shakespeare plays such as King Lear - and Star Trek.'

Ballakermeen High School Theatre Club is presenting Return To the Forbidden Planet nightly at 7.30pm on November 12,13,14,16 and 17.

The show is suitable for all ages. Tickets are available from the school office on 648700 and are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £10 and £13 for family tickets.
