TV Advertising Campaign to Re-Commence In 2010 10 December 2009

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is pleased to announce that the Council of Ministers, Treasury and the Marketing Initiatives Group have approved funding to promote the Isle of Man through a second year UK television campaign which will build on the success of the previous 2008/9 TV campaign. This will include cinema advertising during the ‘Me and Orson Welles’ film which has now been released in the UK.

The campaign aims to reflect the Island’s lifestyle and position the Isle of Man as a place where visitors are free to take part in a variety of outdoor activities. It is again in line with the Island’s branding project as a destination where people have the ‘freedom to flourish’. As in the previous campaign the three adverts, focussing on adventure, lifestyle and nature, will feature local residents at various locations around the Island.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Hon Martyn Quayle MHK said:

‘The Department of Tourism and Leisure aims to achieve the maximum publicity with a relatively small advertising budget. We are aware that television advertising has a powerful impact and I’m pleased that approval has been given to support the TV campaign again this year.

‘In the current climate, where we are competing with other holiday destinations, it is important that we continue to raise the Isle of Man’s profile as a quality holiday destination to support the tourism industry and bring economic benefit to the Island.’

The award winning advertisements, produced by the Department’s advertising agency ‘Truly’, will compliment the Department of Tourism and Leisure’s current advertising activity. Residents are the best advocates to showcase the Isle of Man as a place to live, work, visit and to do business and the campaign will reflect on the quality of life that our residents enjoy. The actors starring in the commercial are Keirron Tastagh for adventure, The Anderson family for nature and Keith Shawcross for lifestyle.
