Abseiling Maughold Head for Charity 18 April 2011 Michelle Wells, a Department of Social Care staff member who works for Pensioners in Income Support, Markwell House, Douglas, recently undertook an abseil at Maughold Head to raise funds for Age Concern. She experienced the exhilaration of abseiling down the 110 foot cliff face to raise money for this worthy cause. Work colleagues, friends and family were her sponsors and she managed to complete the whole cliff face. Michelle said: I had always wanted to try an abseil, but had never got around to doing it, so when I received an email earlier in the year from Age Concern asking if people wished to try the Leap of Faith, I thought it was an opportunity to tick something off my to do list and also raise money for a worthy charity. I too wish Id have done it when I was younger, as I seem to have developed a fear of heights in my latter years. Lets just say, I am pleased I did it". Michelle enjoys her job in Income Support for Pensioners. She processes means tested benefit to those over 60. She has been in post for almost 3 years, and thoroughly enjoys helping the community. Congratulations to Michelle on raising £235.00 for such a good cause. More stories >>>
