DoLGE Raises Thousands for Charity 27 November 2003

The Hon. Pamela M. Crowe, MLC, Minister for DLGE, has praised personnel in the Department for their wonderful fund-raising activities.

Since being appointed as Minister, she has seen funds being raised in many ingenious ways for a variety of charities, with the total amount raised being nearly £4,000.

By tradition, Friday is fund-raising day at DLGE and, throughout the past couple of years, there have been many events including baking cakes, fancy dress days, coffee mornings, sporting activities and dress-down days, all of which have brightened up the occasional Friday, and raised much-needed funds for charity.

The Hon. Pamela M. Crowe, MLC, stated

ďItís wonderful walking around the Department to see witches typing away at their desks, and the normally formal Finance Office paying invoices whilst attired in warlord outfits.Ē

The latest charity to benefit was Children in Need, when Ella Stiles and other colleagues raised £428 by auctioning the skills of Department personnel. The most popular skill on offer was a garden design for which a bid of £25 was accepted, closely followed by Wendyís Mumís boozy fruit cake, and Brianís complete strip-down (of a bicycle).
