New Tourism Customer Service Officer 11 December 2003

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is delighted to announce the appointment of Pippa Gilbert as customer service officer.

Pippa said,

"I am looking forward to liaising between the industry and visitors, and sorting out any problems or issues that arise quickly and efficiently. My role isn't to take sides but to raise any concerns visitors have while working with the industry to encourage quality and service to improve."

She has already visited some hotels and leisure facilities and is looking forward to meeting more people in the tourism industry in the coming months.

Marketing Services manager Michael Brunt commented,

"The Island enjoys a very low level of complaint compared to other destinations but anyone who has a comment or complaint about any aspect of their visit to the Island needs a point of contact to listen and note their comments. Pippa will be a valuable member of the team based at the Tourist Information Centre in the Sea Terminal."

Pippa, 34, was previously customer services manager for Thomas Cook travel agents at their Ramsey and Douglas offices.
