Isle of Man Incinerator
Energy from Waste Plant

This controversial government owned facility is on Richmond Hill, Douglas and became fully operational in 2004 with the first delivery of waste being made on 9th March. The building was designed to be a landmark with a heritage feel. The curves represent the rolling hills of the Island and the stack a viking style sail.

Also known as the 'Energy-from-Waste Plant' the incinerator aims to reduce the amount of waste burried at landfills at Point of Ayre and Archallagan whilst producing electricity for the island. Currently the plant is able to deal with all the burnable waste produced by the island on a day to day basis.
