Supporting Older People in Mann 20 September 2004

"Supporting Older People in Mann" is the title of an exhibition that will be put on by Social Services in the Villa Marina on 24-25 September 2004. The exhibition is being organised by the Older People's Social Work Team in conjunction with David Gawne, who is engaged by the Department as Consultant for its Caring for Carers Strategy. The aim of the exhibition is to promote the services offered on the Island to older people and their carers.

There will be more than thirty stalls in the exhibition, promoting the services offered to older people on the Island by Social Services, as well as other Departments within the DHSS, other Government Departments, voluntary organisations and commercial organisations.

Steve Rodan, MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security, who will be officially opening the Exhibition, said:

"I welcome this initiative to inform the public about services that are available for older people and their carers. We hope this exhibition can be the first of many such annual events."

The Exhibition will be held in the Royal Hall on Friday 24 September from 10.00am to 7.00pm and on Saturday 25 September from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Admission will be free. If you would like further information please contact the Older People's Team on 686182.
