Classic Entries Roar In 29 January 2004

With Regulations and Entry Forms only recently having been made available for the 2004 De Montfort Pre-TT Classic Road Races there is no shortage of enthusiasm from would-be competitors for this ever-popular event, now in its sixteenth year.

First entry to arrive at Race Secretary George Peach's home was that of Senior Classic winner and runner-up in the Junior Classic races last year Steve Elliott, who has entered a brace of Rutter Nortons.

Lightweight winner Ewan Hamilton's entry followed close behind, is bringing a 500 Seeley along with his 247 Suzuki.

The honour of being first of the locals to enter has gone to Derek Whalley who will be out to improve on his two third-place podium positions of 2003 with his 7R and G50 machines.

Evergreen Dennis Christian, who rode in the first Southern 100 Road Races in 1955 has again entered a 499 ESO and a 349Yawa.

The fairer sex is represented by Kay Streets, who is bringing her 349 Seeley to take up the challenge of the 4.25-mile Billown Course once again and hoping to improve on her 19th and 18th placings of 2003.

Eddie Toombs and Bob Dowty with their BMW outfit were the first to send their Sidecar entry in.

So far 67 entries have been received, with the grids filling up for the De Montfort sponsored event, the most popular classes to far are the Singles and the Senior.
