Once again, the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races get the TT 2006 Festival underway on Friday evening, with the first of two practice sessions for premier event especially for Classic racing machines held on the Isle of Man.

With entries oversubscribed, the organising Southern 100 MCRC have incorporated an additional race into event programme to cater for the number of entries received. With the cream of the solo and sidecar racers from the Classic Scene, it is anticipated that action will be fast, close and exciting around the 4.25-mile Billown Course, on the outskirts of Castletown.

Last year's double winner, local rider Chris Palmer, will again be hoping to claim at least one laurel wreath during the meeting. In fact all of the 2005 solo victors are back to pit their skills against their `friendly rivals'.

Bill Swallow, Mike Hose, Roy Richardson and Paul Coward will all wishing to their tallies of race wins in this popular meeting. Last year's Sidecar winner's Stuart Digby and Paul Thomas are absentees this year, which may well leave the 2005 runner's-up, Newcomers Eddy Wright and Neil Wheatley a chance to take their first victory on the testing rectangular course. No doubt the other 15 crews will also be attempting to take the chequered flag first!

Practice gets underway at 6.25pm, the roads closing at 6.15pm and re-opening no later than 9.25pm. Practice continues on Saturday between 1.00pm & 3.45pm, with the first race of the programme, for 250cc and 350cc Single Cylinder machines set to run at 3.00pm over six laps.

Monday sees the main race action commencing at 9.30am roads closing at 9.10am. The Blackford's Pre-TT Classic Road Races promise to bring you the best sights, sounds and atmosphere of a by-gone era, with all competitors giving their all as they enjoy the challenge of the Billown Course.
