The Isle of Man is an island situated in the Irish Sea between the United Kingdom and Ireland. The main towns and villages are located along the coast, where small bays offer shelter. Hills and mountains make up much of the island's interior with tall trees and deep valleys. A flat plain lies in the north of the island leading off to cliffs which drop down to the sea. Wooded glens can be found all over the island, each one with its own beauty and charm.

The Island is 33 miles long and 13 miles wide. It is 221 square miles in area and 100 miles in perimeter. The highest point on the island is the summit of Snaefell (meaning snow mountain) which stands at 2036 feet (621 metres) above sea level. The longest rive on the Island is the Sulby agt 10 1/2 miles.
