There are many forms of transport available on the Isle of Man from taxis to steam trains. Public transport is very good on the Isle of Man and a common way to get about. Buses run all over the island, even to remote destinations (less frequent routes). For those in less of a hurry, the following forms of transport maybe of interest. The Manx Electric Railway along the east side of the island is a pleasant way to get from Douglas to Ramsey or back again. The Snaefell Mountain Railway is the only transport to the highest point on the island, though there are paths for ramblers. The Steam Railway offers easy access to villages and towns in the south of the island. For those who wish to get around the Isle of Man a little quicker, there are rental cars and taxis. Some of the more remote areas are best reached with a car, though it is not a daily necessity for most visitors or locals. |
