Meet the Artist' at the Manx Museum 29 October 2008 On Tuesday 18th November 2008, Manx National Heritage is inviting both visitors and residents to meet John Caley, artist of this years Manx National Heritage Christmas Card Harry Kellys Cottage in the Snow. Manx born John Caley is a graphic designer and artist currently working as a photographer for MNH. He has taught Art, Graphic Design and Photography and exhibited in Sweden where he lived for many years before returning to the Isle of Man. Maureen Kennaugh, Retail Manager for Manx National Heritage said: John is certainly a talented Manx artist and his watercolour was selected for the bespoke Christmas Card, which has been produced to mark the 70th anniversary of the opening of Harry Kellys Cottage to the public and the creation of the first open-air folk museum in Britain." Harry Kelly was a fisherman and native Manx speaker, whose family had lived in Cregneash for several generations, in the now famous cottage known as Harry Kellys Cottage. His family generously gave the cottage to the Manx Museum, who opened it to the public in 1938. Meet the Artist will take place at the Manx Museum Heritage Shop on Tuesday 18th November between 12pm and 2pm. There will also be the opportunity to register your interest in undertaking a unique one day watercolour workshop with John during 2009. More stories >>>
